The Beneficiary
Coach Self and his family founded the Assists Foundation to help provide young people access to better lives. This is accomplished by identifying areas of need and working with other community based institutions to provide creative and lasting solutions.
The Assists Foundation is diligently raising funds to endow scholarship funds, help our community based institutions improve their existing facilities, and teach our young people how live healthy productive lives. With the help of our partners young Jayhawks will have access to healthy lifestyle programs, facilitated by components of education, assessments, prevention, leadership, and competition. These efforts will provide our young people with well deserved new and safe places to play, as well as a lifetime of benefits for you and your families. Our goal for partnerships of Assists is to ensure that the kids we are raising today have the necessary resources to outlive their parents. We appreciate your interest and hope you will be a part of the thriving development.
We are currently committed to awarding scholarships and grants throughout our commumity. We hope this gives you a sense of where the money goes.
Scholarships
Assists is committed to building scholarship endowment funds for both Kansas City Kansas public schools and Lawrence public schools that will allow committed students to continue and complete their educational goals. The endowments will support four (4) $2,500 scholarships each year for both school districts. The scholarships can be accessed through the high school counselors and are renewable for each recipient for up to four years. With an additional 1.5 Million dollars raised this commitment will be fulfilled. The Assists schoalrships are the first four-year scholarships offered in both districts! This is HUGE!! Thank you for helping us reach our goal.
Grants
Assists strives to build relationships within the communities in which we live and work. While we are committed to our fundraising goals, we are also committed to awarding grants throughout the community in which we live and work. Five grants of $3,000 each are now being awarded twice annually and are based upon need and the advancement of the mission of Assists. To date, 12 grants have been awarded.
